The Story of Jef Leppard
The year was 1998. Jeff Laird was the premiere shredder for the mid-level metal outfit Jaws of Life. They were opening a massive show. It was supposed to be their big break.
Jeff didn't show up for soundcheck. He didn't show up when the lights went down. 45 minutes into the set, a figure stumbled onto stage-left. It wasn't Jeff in his usual denim vest. It was Jeff in a tight, blindingly white sequined Elvis Presley jumpsuit, oversized aviator sunglasses, and clutching a greasy bag from Hardee's.
He plugged in, attempted a windmill strum, tripped over his cape, and unplugged the entire PA system. He was fired before he hit the floor.
Fueled by vengeance and Frisco Melts, he burned the jumpsuit and forged a new path. He went back to his roots by revisiting the sound of the legendary punk/hardcore band Led Condom he helped found in the 1980's and recruited the heaviest hitters in the underground scene to form the ultimate hard rock machine: JEF LEPPARD.
